LA PEÑA DE LOS GITANOS
It is the largest and most important concentration of archaeological remains of Granada. It houses remains very different ages, like settlements of the upper medieval. Water mills and aqueducts to drive, such as those around Arroyo de los Molinos; Visigothic necropolis, remains of Roman walls, burials or megalithic dolmens such as those of the Peña de los Gitanos are more than a remarkable patrimony that they treasure these places and that it is possible to see.

It is a route with a length of 2 hours, approximately 10 kilometres. It is necessary to go with a car because it is four kilometres far from Montefrío. One of the advantages is that exactly in front of the beginning of the route we can find a car park where we can leave the cars.
The route begins with a climb of three hundred metres and as we continue the route we will find archaeological sites. The vegetation will be increasing and we will arrive at some dolmens. Behind them,t there will be an extensive meadow where there are terraces and plateaus, denominated ``Peñas de los Gitanos´´.
In the climb we will pass through the necropolis El Rodeo and La Camarilla. After passing the rock, where there is a large meadow and a lane leading to a farmhouse, we will see the medieval village of Castellón.
THIS IS ONE OF THE FAMOUS ROUTES OF LA PEÑA DE LOS GITANOS:
